CDL Class A

This course is for those seeking to qualify for the Class A CDL Skills test.  The curriculum prepares students to meet Theory and Behind the Wheel Vehicle training per the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) requirements. The curriculum is 102 hours in length and consists of three parts.  The first part is one week or 40 hours of classroom, lab, and Learning Management System (LMS) instruction. Completion of this part leads to the ELDT Theory certification and Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP).  The second part is 60 hours of Behind the Wheel (BTW) vehicle instruction to prepare the student for FMCSA Range and Public Road ELDT proficiency requirements for the Class A CDL skills test (road test).  The final portion of the program is scheduling for 2 hours for the state Skills Test (road test). Preparation and scheduling for the CDL Skills test on an automatic only transmission vehicle is included.

CDL Class B

Certified Clinical Medical Assistant with Voucher

Dignity For All Students Act (DASA)

The Dignity Act requires that all students in New York state public schools are afforded an environment free of discrimination and harassment (Education Law §10). Drone Remote Pilot FAA Test Prep Online

Keep up with changing Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements to remain ahead of the curve among commercial drone pilots. Anyone operating a drone for commercial or business purpose must obtain an FAA remote pilot certification. This highly-focused course prepares you for the test to receive this certification.

Beyond drone-specific material, students in this course will gain an understanding of much of the ground-school information covered in the FAA’s knowledge test. Topics include regulations relating to small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS); airspace classification, interpretation of sectional navigation charts, operating requirements, and flight restrictions; aviation weather sources and effects; small unmanned aircraft loading and performance; emergency procedures; aeronautical decision-making and crew resource management; radio communication procedures; physiological effects of drugs and alcohol; airport operations; and maintenance and preflight inspection procedures.

The remote pilot knowledge test Unmanned Aircraft – General includes 60 questions and requires a passing score of 70 percent. The test costs $150, paid separately to the Knowledge Testing Center. With successful completion of the test, you can apply for a remote pilot certificate for FAA Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations part 107.

Students new to drone piloting should precede this course with the comprehensive Drone Pilot Training – Hands-On Introduction Course, which provides the skills and information you need to start piloting drones safely and legally.

Prerequisites: Students must be at least 16 years old, be able to read, speak, write and understand English (exceptions may be made if the person is unable to meet one of these requirements for a medical reason, such as hearing impairment).

Drones - Intro for Commercial Users

Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (SUAS), otherwise known as drones, are a dynamic, emerging technology that will literally transform how industries function. This eight-hour course is a comprehensive overview of the information your organization needs to start using drones safely and legally. The course will cover the types of flight systems available, their capabilities and how to pick the one that would be best for your organization. HeartCode BLS

This course is designed for health care professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and pre-hospital settings. In order to receive course completion card there are two required steps.

Step 1 - Completion of online course (HeartCode BLS)

Go to www.onlineaha.org, select HeartCode BLS, and add it to your cart. Cost is $36 and is paid online to the American Heart Association. This self-paced course is accessible anytime from any computer with internet access. Students can access all material included in the HeartCode BLS course for 24 months. This course may be used for initial or renewal completion.

Step 2 - Register for a hands-on skills session

Once you complete the online course you will be able to print a certificate of completion. After you complete the online course, contact Community and Professional Education to register and pay for a skills session (must take place no more than 60 days following successful completion the online course).

Skills sessions are held at 400 Jordan Road. Students must present American Heart Association HeartCode certificate of completion to be admitted. No exceptions! Beware of copycat websites. Students who arrive without the certificate of completion will not be allowed to stay and will need to re-register and pay for another session, so come prepared! Please review the online course materials before attending. Underprepared students who do not complete the skills session in the one hour of allotted time will need to re-register and pay. You must notify us in writing at least 24 hours in advance to withdraw from the course.

Paralegal Certificate Course

This nationally-acclaimed program through the Center for Legal Studies is designed for beginning and advanced legal workers. This paralegal certificate course will provide you with comprehensive knowledge of the American judicial system. Pharmacy Technician Online

Pharmacy technicians are in great demand both locally and nationally and credentialed technicians have a solid career path. The role of the pharmacy technician is to dispense medications, interact with patients and many may soon be administering COVID 19 tests and vaccines. This is an exciting opportunity to enter a high-demand medical field.

This course provides students the preparation needed for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s (PTCB.org) exam. There is an increasing demand from pharmacies for those who have passed the certification exam. Coursework focuses on the retail pharmacy industry and emphasizes the importance of customer service. Those who wish to work in hospital or veterinary pharmacies will generally receive additional on-the-job training specific to those environments.

This course is conducted exclusively online to provide you with the flexibility to learn on your own schedule. You will have access to the instructor and you will participate in discussion boards with fellow students. All students also are required to attend two mandatory three-hour synchronous (real time) remote classes per week with the instructor.

Prerequisites: Minimum 10th grade reading and math skill levels; basic computer skills; access to a personal computer with internet access.

School Violence Prevention

This training responds to the requirement for a two-hour certification course for teaching assistants, teachers, pupil personnel service professionals and administrators in New York State as part of the Safe Schools Against Violence in Education Act (SAVE). All participants will receive an approved NYS Education Department certificate upon completion of this training. It also can be used to fulfill the professional development plan requirement to provide a two-hour course for all currently certified educators and staff. The seminar will highlight statutes, regulations and policies relative to a safe and non-violent school climate; the warning signs for violent behavior exhibited by a student within a developmental and social context that relate to violence and troubling behaviors in children; how to participate in an effective school community referral process for students exhibiting violent behavior; and classroom management techniques when responding to potentially violent situations or behavior. 0.2 CEUs.

Veterinary Assistant

Do you love animals? Have you ever thought about a career as a veterinary assistant? This intensive course will provide the information you need to become a productive member of a veterinary team. The course is designed for people who want to work as veterinary assistants at veterinary hospitals and for those already employed in related positions.  The course covers all the requirements that hospitals and veterinarians’ offices look for, and more! Water Treatment, Grade I - Advanced Operations

The Water Treatment Plant Grade I - Advanced Operations course is one of the modules required by the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) to become certified as a Grade IA or Grade IB water treatment plant operator in New York State; (the second module is on Management and Supervision and is a separate course). The Grade IA certificate is required at water treatment plants with filtration that were designed for 2.5 MGD and over. The Grade IB is required for water treatment plants that are designed for 2.5 MGD or over, without filtration.

There is also a 10-year experience requirement for the certification. Generally the course is taken by those operators already possessing a Grade IIA or Grade IIB water operator certificate. The course is an in-depth course in water treatment, with a heavy emphasis on math, chemistry, biology, the intricacies of water treatment, water treatment plant optimization and the rules, regulations and legal requirements of operating a water treatment plant.

Note: For NYSDOH-approved water treatment courses, 100 percent attendance is required. In order to satisfactorily complete the course, students who miss any hours of the class will be required to make up those hours by arrangement with the instructor.
